The inaugural Gibson Trophy was won by Richard Westgarth.
The inaugural Gibson Trophy was held over the weekend 17-18 August, as was hailed as a great success! There were 24 entrants from all different levels across the club. Participants were divided into four blocks of six, ranked according to their GC handicap, and played level singles games. After everyone enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch, the winners of each of the four blocks played-off in semi-finals, and then finals, playing extra turns according to their handicaps. The Finalists were: Rob Wright (Platinum Block, Richard Westgarth (Gold Block), Judy Larsen (Silver Block) and Peter Larsen (Bronze Block). AND the winner was..…. Richard Westgarth!!!! But we were all winners, really – players and supporters all had a great time. Catering kings Cali Craig and Ian Pedley, and their amazing group of helpers were absolute champions!! Thank you all. Also huge thanks to Ron Humpherson who magically pulled together the whole tournament draw and lawn allocations, and kept everything in good order. And especial thanks to Mary and Robert Gibson who have initiated this tournament, which everyone agreed will be an annual (bi-annual?) event.
